Hi, l have a 18 year old son who is deaf in 1 ear. Was just wondering what is out there to help my son when he goes on to college? We never had any help when he was in primary school and l have had to fight for help for his upcoming Leaving Cert Exams.

    Regards,
    Debbie

Hi Debbie, thanks for getting in touch. You’ll be glad to know Trinity College runs the Deaf Support in Third-Level (DS3) project, to which access workers and students can look for advice. UCC also has outreach for deaf teens and students. As regards your son’s Leaving Cert supports, many parents will identify with your advocacy. The advice is to keep writing to the Dept. of Education with your issues, until a satisfactory outcome is reached. Let us know if you’d like to attend this event on March 4th?
