The Need To ‘Re-Think Learning’ For Universality

Earlier this year, IDK posted Telepractice For Low-Cost Language Teaching as one solution for Ireland’s shortage of speech and language teachers.

Telepractice, the name for this remote teaching approach, is defined as the use of top-rate video-conferencing for the delivery of professional services.

Tech-news site ZDNet recently ran a piece “Re-Think Learning“, to explain how online games and activities can benefit children with language issues. A key question was, how the children would ‘approach the learning process’.

In rural Ireland, telepractice teaching would benefit language-learning services for children whose cognitive abilities are sufficiently developed.

Some good points for telepractice success are noted by telepractice firm, Presence Telecare. It’s useful if a child needs a limited amount of language-teaching, or for substitute teachers when a full-time teacher is unavailable.

For all the children on speech & language waiting lists, telepractice is a low-cost option and would confirm Ireland’s tech prowess if a big project began.
