My daughter is hard of hearing and spent 5 years in college. She has an honours degree in Early Childhood Studies and a Teaching Diploma in Montessori. She cannot find work, not even a placement on a CE Scheme which is a shame as she worked so hard and has achieved so much. I am particularly interested in the “Paid Mentored Placements for graduates with disabilities”. Can I find out more about this initiative? We live in Waterford and may not be able to get to Dublin on 3 Nov.

Hi M, many thanks for your message. Be assured that *all* graduates currently need to put more work into getting their first ‘break’ into paid employment. For graduates with hearing issues, this ‘break’ can depend on an employer/manager being open to a trial in their workplace. This topic will be discussed at the IDK event on Nov 3 as a recurring issue for the graduates in question. If at all possible, we’d encourage you and your daughter to attend, to tap the expertise in the room. Otherwise, some post-event information will be made available on the website. Keep in touch and let us know if you see any possible leads to follow.
