Earlier this year, Limerick-based venture, Off We Go! Publishing and its ‘experience’ books for children were mentioned on this site.
Off We Go! is now offering two titles as animated iPhone & iPad apps from the App Store, in English and Spanish, with more titles to follow.
The apps teach children to expect sensory experiences on a trip. The “Going On a Plane” app has bags moving at airport check-in, with relevant sounds. Dentist’s drill sounds also feature in the “Going To The Dentist” app. Making these experiences ‘live’ for a child reduces much fear and apprehension.
Separately, ITV’s Signed Stories portal has also added two Off We Go! titles to its range, together with IDK’s “A Birthday For Ben” book. Check the Off We Go! blog for the two titles animated, and more details of this initiative.
